Not getting enough power from your drum stick of choice, but not comfortable changing to a heavier or longer stick? Try this. Hold the bead end of the stick in your hand and strike with the grip, or butt, end of the stick. You can always flip the stick back to the traditional way of holding it for delicate work or cymbal playing when you need more definition. You can also play with one stick one way, and one stick the other way at the same time — in either hand. This way you get the power, and definition, that you want without giving up your favorite stick. It’s like having four sets of sticks in your hand at the same time. |
